BOOKING YOUR CAR FOR AN MOT

When does my car need an MOT?
If your car is more than 3 years old it is a legal requirement that it has an MOT test every year to ensure that it meets at least the minimum road safety and environmental standards.

An MOT is a thorough annual examination of a vehicle that is over three years old. The MOT examination tests both the safety of your vehicle and the level of exhaust emissions.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your vehicle is examined every 12 months.

Without an MOT certificate, you will be unable to renew your road tax and your car may not be insured. Having a current MOT certificate is a legal requirement in the UK.

You can check the current status of your MOT online at the link:

You can book an MOT up to 28 days in advance of its due date. The expiry date on your new MOT is 12 months from the expiry of your old one, hence it's possible to have an MOT that lasts 13 months. The old MOT certificate is not required as now all online.

Once you have booked your vehicle in for its MOT. Don't forget to bring means of payment for the test.
